This song is by the Aussie Band John Butler Trio. There are pretty cool and the way John Butler plays the guitar is unbelievable! We’ve seen them perform live on Live Earth Concert back in 2007 and they were the highlight of the show! There is something really special about this hippie dude!
This song is about being happy with what you got and stop wanting what other people have. It’s about being thankful for everything you have and achieved and this is another one of my life’s mottos.
Now for something completely different - John Butler Trio has a song called “Peaches & Cream” which reminds me of a funny story about Peaches. One of my oldest friends is allergic to Peaches. She is so allergic to it that she can actually choke up and die if a piece of a peach gets even near her. I grew up in a little town that had nothing to offer and we were very bored teenagers. We used to travel to the big cities by hitchhiking. One day we caught a ride with a truck that was carrying boxes filled with nothing but Peaches, great big juicy peaches! My friend sat behind the driver and next to her seat were the boxes of peaches and a few toilet paper rolls. At some point the truck driver was accelerating and the peaches were thrown out of the boxes and landed right on my friend. At the same time the toilet roll decided to join the party and landed on my friend, the driver was going really fast and by end of the trip my friend was covered with peaches and toilet paper, she looked like a mummy and she couldn’t move because she was terrified of the peaches. It was just the most hilarious thing ever. It was a story that we couldn’t stop telling because the irony was too much to handle. This song is for you T ;)

Nickelback – Savin’ Me (album: All the Right Reasons 2006)
This song is by Nickelback. They are such a cool band and their lead singer Chad Kroeger is an awesome vocalist. This song is so amazing!!! And the video clip is breathtaking!
For me this song is about that special person in your life that balance you when you feel completely lost or when you accidently take some wrong turns. That person will always be there to save you from yourself and get you back on track...my hubby is definitely my guardian angel, I tend to get into moods and get cranky about really stupid things – cause I’m a girl and we really enjoy our little dramas. He always put things in the right perspective. He is such a happy person and I learn a lot from being around him. Check out this magical song …

Lyrics: Savin’ Me Lyrics
What’s this song about?
There has been a lot of discussion and debate into who exactly the song is "calling out for". Some believe for it to be a lover of the protagonist, while some believe it to have religious meaning, with themes of forgiveness and redemption, with lyrics such as "Heaven's gates won't open up to me" and "teach me wrong from right". So far Nickelback has not specifically addressed this uncertainty. (Savin’ Me)

Cog – Are you interested (album: Sharing Space 2008)
This next song is by the Aussie Bondi Band Cog. It’s another great discovery by my Hubby. They are quite awesome. They’re really into conspiracy theories and this song talks about the 9/11 conspiracy theory. The music is great and it has wonderful lyrics. If you want to see a great conspiracy theory movie then I would recommend watching “Zeitgeist”. It’s a movie that talks about the facts that led to the 9/11 terror attack and everything that happened after the attack. It’s quite scary and very convincing; it took me a few days to shake it off my head! It also discusses the conspiracies behind religion which is quite interesting.
I remember exactly where I was in 9/11. I remember watching it on the news, seeing the two twin towers crashing to the ground. It was a shocking disaster. I was lucky enough to have seen the two towers back in 1998 when I was travelling in America. I was very impressed by it. I’ve spent a day with my friends in Battery Park; I was skateboarding in the park (another disaster!) and I watched the buildings from the park. It was an amazing day which I’ll never forget. Now back to the song, I hope you enjoy it ;)

What’s this song about?
Here is an article from their website:
COG brought the revolution as much they did the riffs. With its signature guitar line and immediate hook, Are You Interested? rams home the bitter truth that personal privacy is now an extinct ideal. That fear is the tool employed by both government and corporate business to control and exploit populations. That paranoia is justified. That what was once the realm of conspiracy theory is now reality.
“We’re just saying it the way we see it and after much research into 9/11 and many occult and political subjects we knew this type of information just needed to get out ,” states Lucius. “Sometimes you have to be literal and get to the guts of it, rather than be all airy-fairy and obtuse.”

Qu Est Le Swimming Pool – Dance The Way I Feel (album: The Golden Year 2009)
This song is by the British Synthpop band Qu Est Le Swimming Pool. I like this song very much. I think it’s a great song. I got very upset when I heard that their lead singer Charles Haddon has committed suicide a few hours after their concert in Belgium on August 2010.
Charles has taken his own life a few hours after an unplanned stage dive went wrong and he accidently fell on top of one of his fans, He was completely distress since he feared that he had injured her badly. He thought she will never make it through and he couldn’t live with that thought. A few hours later he jumped into his own death. The girl had serious injury to one of her legs but she is fully recovered now. Sadly it was too late for Charles. Unfortunately this was the end of a young band’s career that could have been really successful. Check out this wonderful song...

David Bowie – Ashes to Ashes (album: Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps) 1980)
This next song is by David Bowie. This is one of my favourite Bowie songs, the music is brilliant and it’s basically a continuation of the Major Tom story from his early 1969 song “Space Oddity”, if you thought Major Tom is about an astronaut lost in space then it’s actually about a drug addict, Bowie meant a different kind of space travelling. This is just an amazing idea of Bowie to create a sequel to his old and good song. Isn’t he a genius?!?
Speaking of ashes, when I was a teenager my friends and I used to play a game with the cigarette ashes. We called it “a whore cigarette” we would all sit in a circle and pass a cigarette from one another and whoever dropped the ashes would have to complete a stupid funny task that we all made up. It was funny because we made up stupid tasks like running around naked in the park or licking each other ears and all kind of really stupid teenager ideas. This game was similar to truth or dare just without the truth and a lot of dare. If someone would get naked we would throw his clothes on top of a tree so he would have to climb naked to get it. It was really fun playing that game. I don’t remember doing anything degrading, usually it was the boys that dropped the ashes a lot and had to cope with really silly tasks. Check out his wonderful ashes song…

Lyrics: Ashes to Ashes Lyrics
What’s this song about?
Melancholic and introspective, "Ashes to Ashes" featured Bowie's reinterpretation of "a guy that's been in such an early song", namely Major Tom from his first hit in 1969, "Space Oddity". Described as "containing more messages per second" than any single released in 1980,instead of a hippie astronaut who casually slips the bonds of a crass and material world to journey beyond the stars, the song describes Major Tom as a "junkie, strung out in heaven's high, hitting an all-time low". This lyric was interpreted as a play on the title of Bowie's 1977 album Low, which charted his withdrawal inwards following his drug excesses in America a short time before, another reversal of Major Tom's original withdrawal 'outwards' or towards space.
Bowie himself said in an interview with NME shortly after the single's release, "It really is an ode to childhood, if you like, a popular nursery rhyme. It's about space men becoming junkies (laughs)." (Wikipedia – Ashes to Ashes)

Bowling for Soup – 1985 (album: A Hangover You Don't Deserve 1985)
This song is by Bowling for Soup. They have such a cool band name! I love this song very much; I sympathize with it very much!
I personally can’t keep up with the rapid technology changes, my Hubby on the other end is a technology freak he usually buys all the latest gadgets even before the company releases it. Once he gets the new gadget he knows exactly how to operate it. He has quite a talent for all technical things. I ‘m the complete opposite, I don’t really understand anything about all these gadgets even when he tries to explain it to me. It’s funny because even though I don’t know anything and I couldn’t tell the difference between a notebook and an IPad or whatever is out there, my Hubby always buys me the latest technology, he got me a new laptop a week ago and my previous laptop was only two years old and it was purple with beautiful flowers on it which he bought me right after I’ve spilled water on my other laptop and ruined it. He also bought me a pink nano IPod and then he got me my IPhon and he added a purple cover to it (I’m really into pink and purple cause I’m a girl!) then he got me an IPad which I don’t really use – he said that I can use it to read books but I don’t really see the point of reading a book without flipping the pages! So I just use it for my Sudoku puzzles. My hubby spoils me a lot with new gadgets. I personally prefer old simple stuff that it’s easy to operate. It’s quite a nightmare for me to get use to new technology every time and by the time that I do learn how to use my new gadget; my hubby buys me a new one!!! It is quite a tough dilemma for me. I do appreciate all his gifts but I feel bad about throwing out all the old stuff that I got from him. I guess this magic circle will never end. Anyway, I dedicate this song to my purple flower Dell notebook which I love very much and had to replace it with a new red Lenovo ThinkPad which I got a week ago for our 10th anniversary… check out this song that was definitely written about me…

Here is a nice comment from Songfacts:
This song is about a woman who is still living in the past, reliving her glory years when she was a teenager in 1985. She had big dreams, but now spends her time immersing herself in '80s pop culture.

Sting – If I Ever Lose My Faith in You (album: Ten Summoner's Tales 1993)
This song is by Sting. I love this song very much. The lyrics are so amazing! I remember watching the video clip back in 1993 and how amazed I was by this song. Such a great love song.
For me this song is just about the importance of love in your life and how everything starts and ends with love. You can lose your faith in everything else but if you lose your faith in love then you’ll be left with meaningless life. Also the woman in the video clip looks exactly like my friend’s mum which I always thought it was quite odd! Check out this wonderful love song...

Foo Fighters – The pretender (album: Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace 2007)
This song is by Foo Fighters. A band that was formed by Dave Grohl Nirvana’s Drummer. The guy plays the drums, Guitar and he sings. He is such a talented dude he could have formed a one man band if he wanted. This is such a masterpiece! The music in this song is just perfect!
My interpretation of the lyrics is that this song is about conniving politicians everywhere in the world and how we, simple citizens are kept in the dark with their lies and manipulative ways and we are constantly struggling while they are making money and gaining more power on our expense. I had to get it off my chest...feeling much better now! I hope you enjoy this song...

What’s this song about?
In a 2007 interview with XFM, frontman Dave Grohl stopped short of explaining the meaning behind "The Pretender", but alluded its roots go to current political unrest. Grohl noted,
"That's the thing with lyrics, you never want to give away specifics, because it's nice for people to have their own idea or interpretation of the song. But, you know, everyone's been fucked over before and I think a lot of people feel fucked over right now and they're not getting what they were promised, and so something to do with that.”(Wikipedia – The Pretender)

The Beatles – While My Guitar Gently weeps (album: The Beatles 1968)
This next song is by The Beatles. I think everyone that loves rock had gone through their Beatles period, I sure did. This is definitely one of my favourite Beatles songs! The guitar sound in this song is quite amazing, it surely weeps! This song was written by George Harrison. When the Beatles first recorded this song in their studio , Harrison wasn’t happy with the guitar so he had decided to ask Eric Clapton to play the lead guitar in this song, that’s the reason behind the great solo in this song. It was nice to find out that Powderfinger covered this song in one of their live performances. I’ve added their version and Santana’s version as well. Absolutely amazing!
I think Harrison was trying to say that he expresses himself through his guitar. “I look at the world and I notice it’s turning while my guitar gently weeps”. My hubby is very passionate about his guitar; he plays it every night and I enjoy listening to him playing. The sounds that he creates are absolutely magnificent. He could have released thousands of albums by now. He composes beautiful songs on his guitar with no effort at all. He is also my private guitar teacher. He teaches me so many things. Sometimes we even jam together and it is probably the best feeling in the world, there is nothing more exciting than jamming with my hubby! Check out this old and wonderful song that talks about the greatest playing instrument...
Lyrics: My Guitar Gently Weeps Lyrics
What’s this song about?
Inspiration for the song came to Harrison when reading the I Ching, which, as he put it, "seemed to me to be based on the Eastern concept that everything is relative to everything else...opposed to the Western view that things are merely coincidental." Taking this idea of relativism to his parents’ home in northern England, Harrison committed to write a song based on the first words he saw upon opening a random book. Those words were “gently weeps”, and he immediately began the song (Wikipedia- While My Guitar Gently weeps)

The Church – Under The Milky Way (album: Starfish 1988)
This song is by the Aussie alternative rock band The Church. I love
this song very much, calms me down every time I listen to it. What a great song! The bagpipes solo is just a brilliant idea and it makes this song even more special. Although this song talks about a music venue in Amsterdam there are some references to love and longing for someone “wish I knew what you were looking for, Might have known what you would find...”
Speaking of music venue, When my Hubby and I were dating he used to take me to a pub called “Animal Farm” that had live shows with a lot of famous people. It was such an amazing experience! We would have a few drinks and watch a good rock show. I’m not sure if this pub exists anymore it was many years ago. Anyway, check out this wonderful song...Link to the song: Under The Milky Way The Church
