Seether – Broken Feat Amy Lee (album: The Punisher: The Album 2004)

This song is by Seether. I love this band so much! Shaun Morgan kicks ass! This song originally recorded by Seether .It was redone as a duet with Amy Lee @ Evanescence.  A little bit of gossip, because I’m a girl and it’s a must – Amy and Shaun dated for 3 years and they have recorded this song during their dating period. It didn’t work out  between them eventually. Shame ,they looked really good together! Anyway, the mix of their voices is absolutely amazing and I like this version of this song better than the original.

Shaun wrote this song about his daughter when he decided to move from South Africa to America and had left his family behind. Being away from his daughter left him quite broken. This reminds me of My Hubby’s and I move to Australia. We have left our families behind as well. It’s really hard to leave your family and friends and to know that things will never be the same. It’s been almost 6 years since we’ve moved to Australia. Our siblings already started their families and they all have kids. I love my nieces and nephew very much and I feel that I’m missing the most important stages of their lives. They barely remember us when we go back for a visit and it’s quite sad. We miss our parents and family dinners. We have met new friends and they are like family to us but still being away from your real family is not easy. It’s quite a dilemma that will never be resolved. We moved to Australia to be happier and in a way we found our happiness but we are sad being away from our families but if we will decide to go back then we will always feel miserable being away from Australia. I guess it’s a catch 22 situation that will never be resolved. Check out this amazing duet by one of my favourite bands …

What’s this song about?

Here is a comment from songfacts website:

Seether lead singer Shaun Morgan wrote this song, which deals with the pain of leaving someone behind. He explained in 2004: "I wrote it two-and-a-half years ago for my daughter, she was just born and I had to come to the States (from South Africa) and I wrote the lyrics for her, it's about leaving somebody behind, you know that is really painful to do, and ultimately you're looking to the future saying 'we'll see each other again and everything will be fine.'"

Bliss N Eso – Down by the River (album: Running on Air 2010)

This next song is by the Aussie band Blis N Eso. I’ve mentioned already that I’m not into Hip Hop music, not at all but there are some exceptions. This song is definitely one of the. It’s a pretty cool song. My hubby and our friend love this band, that’s how I was exposed to this song. I just feel like jumping up and down whenever I listen to it.
Sounds like this song is about wakeboarding which really fuels your fire and takes you higher, Wake boarding is pretty cool, I’ve tried it once with my hubby and I really enjoyed it. My hubby is quite an expert already, I love seeing him on the board. He is also very much into Kite Surfing and he is really good at it, he’s been surfing for years now. He jumps really high up and it’s fun to watch him, I usually just take photos and enjoy seeing him having fun – It’s too extreme for me and I’m pretty sure if I’ll decide to try it , I will probably crash into a building or just get eaten by a shark!  Anyway check out this cool song...

Eric Clapton – Tears in Heaven (album: Rush and Unplugged 2004)

This song is by Eric Clapton. I get all emotional whenever I listen to this song. He wrote this song about his 4 years old son that fell to his death from a 53rd floor window of a New York apartment.
When I listen to this song I think about my dog. I’m really hoping that he is in Dog’s heaven because he deserves the best, he was such an amazing dog and it wasn’t easy for him during the end. He was more human than a lot of people that I know, there was something special in his eyes. Whenever I was sad he felt it and was always there for me and when I was happy he felt it as well, he was amazing and I miss him so much. I’m hoping to meet him again someday and thank him for everything he had done for me; hopefully I’ll be able to take care of him again. He was the best friend ever and sometimes I just took him for granted and then one day he was gone. I have a feeling we will meet again...hopefully in the far future because I still have some living to do. Check out this sad and beautiful song...

What’s this song about?

"Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991. Clapton, who arrived at the apartment shortly after the accident, was visibly distraught for months afterwards. (Wikipedia – Tears in Heaven)

Empire of the Sun – We are The People (album: Walking on a Dream 2008)

This song is by the Aussie band Empire of the Sun. They have a few nice songs and some weird ones as well. Another Aussie wonder! I love this song very much. My hubby bought us their album and we enjoyed listening to it.

I couldn’t find the meaning of this song but for me it’s all about longing for your youth days where everything was naive and simple and there were no worries or fears, times when you were able to appreciate nature. As adults we are often blinded by too many obligations and the material world and there is no room for fun anymore all is left to do is to linger on our past memories. Check out this awesome song...

The Cranberries – Linger (album: Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? 1993)

This song is by the cranberries. They had such good songs and then they disappeared. Dolores O'Riordan has such an amazing voice and you can hear her wonderful Irish accent when she sings, I love it. I’ve discovered them when they have released their second album “No Need to Argue” in 1994. Back then “Zombie” was quite a hit so I had to get this album!
This song is purely about being in love with someone and not getting anything in return except for a huge heartache. I don’t really have a sad story about a breakup or anything, I met my hubby when I was 24 and whatever was in my past didn’t really matter anymore. Of course I had a few crushes and a few boyfriends and my heart was broken for a few days but seriously I never made a fuss about any of it. I guess everyone experience some kind of disappointment in their life but if you are wise enough to know that this is an integral part of life then you just move on until you find the right person. If your heart is broken by someone it just means that you have placed in the wrong hands. Check out this wonderful 90’s song...

Linkin Park – What I’ve Done (album: Minutes to Midnight 2007)

This song is by Linkin Park. I wasn’t a fan at all until I’ve been to one of their concerts in Sydney and I was just shocked by their unbelievable good performance, it was one of the best shows I’ve seen so far. They are so talented! All of them! I’ve almost missed the concert. when my hubby bought us tickets to the concert, I was reluctant to join him so he gave my ticket to our friend. Then I’ve changed my mind again after I’ve discovered that Chris Cornell will be supporting their tour, no way I would have missed that! My hubby was kind enough to get me another ticket at the last minute. I was sitting all by myself during Chris Cornell’s performance but later on I’ve joined my hubby and friends for Linkin Park show. It was such a nice surprise! My conclusion from this experience is that I’ll never say no to any concert invention in the future!
This is the theme song of the first transformers movie. I loved all of the Transformers movies and I don’t usually enjoy Sci Fi movies in fact I distaste them! And I wasn’t really interested in watching the TV show when I was a child but now I really think Bumblebee kicks Ass! My next car will definitely be a yellow transformer one! Check out this awesome song…

Chester Bennington described the track in a March 2007 interview with MTV:

Joe [Hahn] came up to Mike and me and asked us to take the whole idea of Minutes to Midnight and apply that to how the band has changed. So, in a way, it's us saying goodbye to how we used to be...The lyrics in the first verse are 'In this farewell, there's no blood, there's no alibi,' and right away, you'll notice that the band sounds different: The drums are much more raw, the guitars are more raw and the vocals aren't tripled. It's just us out there .... and that's how Rick Rubin wanted it.(Wikipedia – What I’ve Done)

The Potbelleez - Don't Hold Back (album The Potbelleez 2007)

This song is by the Aussie & Irish band The Potbelleez. Such a cool band they have a few cool songs, it’s quality house music and I appreciate it very much. This song was quite a hit in Australia, when it first came out they were constantly playing it on the radio. We have seen them perform in one of the music festivals in Sydney when they have just released this song and their show was just awesome! It’s quite a catchy song and I never get tired of it, I feel like crazy dancing when I listen to it ;)

It sounds like this song is about letting someone else help you deal with your emotional turmoil and not holding back your feelings. It’s about sharing and opening up to someone else that might have experienced the same situation at some point of his life. I share all my troubles and thoughts with my hubby; he understands me completely and always puts everything in the right perspective, it’s important to have that one true friend in your life. It is important to be true to your feelings and open up to someone, holding back your feelings will make you sick at some point of your life and you definitely don’t want that! Check it out...

Foo Fighters – Rope (album: Wasting Light 2011)

This is a new song by the legendary Foo Fighters. My hubby introduced me to this song a few days ago and I had to post it because it’s awesome! The low budget video clip is amazing, the concept is really cool. This song was released on March 11. It’s from their seventh album.  Dave Grohl described it as their heaviest album yet. I listened to it , liked it and bought it for my Iphone!
Couldn’t find the meaning of this song but it’s all about the music anyway. Speaking of rope, it reminds me of my first attempt to Wakeboard. We all went to an amazing river called Williams River which is located around Newcastle. One of our friends knows a guy that lives there and he is a wakeboarding instructor. He took us on his boat and we all had a go. I was doing fine until I drank too many beers and I just couldn’t hold the rope for a long period. I kept on falling and I was completely out of balance. At some point I got tired and I fell on my face which was quite painful but the funny part is that I couldn’t get up, the board was too heavy and I was completely pissed and tired. Luckily my hubby came to my rescue and pulled me out of the water. Overall it was a great experience; I wouldn’t mind trying it again just not in the ocean because I don’t do sharks! Check out this cool new song …

Jimi Hendrix – All Along the Watchtower (album: Electric Ladyland 1968)

This next song is by Jimi Hendrix. He is considered to be the best electric guitar player ever existed. He was quite amazing with all his guitar playing techniques that included using his teeth and playing behind his back.  He was only 27 when he died but he has contributed greatly to music in his time and even today’s music. His memory and influence will be remembered for ever.

This song is a cover that he did for Bob Dylan’s song, Thanks to Jimi it became so famous. I really love this cover and I personally think it’s better than the original. U2 have also covered it in their album: “rattle and ham” which I love very much, I’ve added all 3 versions below. Dylan wrote this song after he was recovering from a motorcycle accident. I think this song is about his realization of the importance of life and the significant meaning of time but who am I to analyse Bob Dylan’s songs, He is way too complex for me! Check out all 3 versions of this wonderful song.

Lyrics: All along the watchtower Lyrics

What’s this song about?

Dylan wrote "All Along the Watchtower" along with the other songs on John Wesley Harding over the year or so following his motorcycle accident in the summer of 1966.His recuperation from the accident, which occurred near his home in Woodstock, New York, enabled Dylan to escape the excesses of touring and make a dramatic turnaround in his lifestyle. With one child born in early 1966 and another in mid-1967, he settled into family life and even took a growing interest in the Bible, as reflected in the album's Biblical allusions, particularly in songs such as "All Along the Watchtower", "Dear Landlord", "I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine" and "The Wicked Messenger".(Wikipedia – All Along the Watchtower)

MGMT – Kids (album: Oracular Spectacular 2008)

This song is by MGMT.  It’s such a cool song. It’s a song about how every one of us was a kid at some point, free from responsibilities whatsoever and for us to remember that even bad people that do horrible things were once naive little children with no intentions to harm anyone. Although sometimes kids can be very evil and leave other kids with long term scars which would eventually impact on their adult’s life. I believe every one of us has been bullied another kid at least once in his lifetime by .

But I think MGMT meant childhood in a good way where everything is still fresh and new and fun and there aren’t any worries or concerns. Good times! BTW, they completely abuse the baby in their video clip, It’s quite funny. I guess after this experience he won’t be scared of anything anymore...Check out this awesome song...

 Lyrics: Kids Lyrics

What’s this song about?

Here is a comment from songfacts:

VanWyngarden told Mojo May 2010 that Goldwasser “wrote the music for ‘Kids’ when he was 19, drunk in his dorm room. Then I wrote the lyrics on my 20th birthday, the night that we were gonna play it to people for the first time.I know that they’re vaguely inspired by David Byrne’s nostalgic lyrics , but it doesnt make any sense.” He added: “ I remember that I was thinking about musicians as having big voice, and what are they gonna do with it? I was thinking we’d get everybody to realise that we’re all little kids at some point – people that are evil and doing hideous stuff right now , like George Bush or whoever , they were once little innocent beings. Something like that. I’m glad that people like it. It’s a catchy song”

The Breeders – Cannonball (album: Last Splash 1993)

This song is by The Breeders, Such a cool 90’s song!!! I remember listening to it for the first time; I thought it was such an amazing song. The fact that it’s preformed by girls is pretty cool. The band was formed by Kim Deal the bassist of the Pixies.

The song lyrics were written about Marquis de Sade (1740-1814) who was a French aristocrat, revolutionary, politician and writer. He was a big supporter of extreme freedom, immorality and he was against any religion or Law. He was quite a scary person that sexually abused other people in order to exercise his total freedom! The term “sadism” is derived from his name...in other words he was a big pain in the butt! I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do...

Lyrics: Cannonball Lyrics

What’s this song about?

Here is a comment from song meaning:

Kim: I've just never connected music with books. Wait, that's not entirely true. "Cannonball" was inspired by the writings of the Marquis de Sade.

Q: What? "I'll be the bong in your reggae song" was inspired by de Sade?

Kim: Well, not that line specifically. But the message of the song as a whole was making fun of de Sade and his libertarian views that if he was better off than someone, then they were just fodder for him. Playthings. It was saying,"Come on, life's not a contest."

Q: So you're pretty much anti-de Sade.

Kim: Well, I don't know. Later on I found out he used to suck the snot out of people's noses, and I thought that pretty much ruled.

R.E.M – Losing My Religion (album: Out of Time 1991)

This song is by REM. I remember when it first released. I was so amazed by this song and the video clip and everything, such a great song! The entire album is quite magnificent.

This song is about having a crush on someone and giving a few hints and not knowing if you are revelling too much or if he is interested at all or even if he noticed your existence. We all had our own crushes on someone at some point of our lives. From my experience, nothing comes out of it .if you are looking for clues from the other side then it’s never going to happen. I believe if you want someone or something, you just need to grab it, you have nothing to lose! It’s either yes or no , If you get a “yes” then it’s great , If you get a “No” then your Ego will be smashed for a day or two and then you’ll move on to the next crush. I made the first move on my Hubby, I found his number and gave him a call and that’s how our love story started. Life is too precious to be wasted on the wrong people! Check out this lovely 90’s hit...

Lyrics: Losing my Religion Lyrics

What’s this song about?

In the song, Michael Stipe sings the lines "That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight/Losing my religion". The phrase "losing my religion" is an expression from the southern region of the United States that means losing one's temper or civility, or "being at the end of one's rope." Stipe told The New York Times the song was about romantic expression. He told Q that "Losing My Religion" is about "someone who pines for someone else. It's unrequited love, what have you." Stipe compared the song's theme to "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, saying, "It's just a classic obsession pop song. I've always felt the best kinds of songs are the ones where anybody can listen to it, put themselves in it and say, 'Yeah, that's me.'(Wikipedia – Losing My Religion)

Panic at the Disco - I write Sins Not Tragedies (album: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out 2005)

This song is by Panic! At The Disco. They are a very young band. They are a bunch of talented Kids. This is quite an awesome song with cool lyrics.

This song is all about facing matters with rationality and not letting anything get to you too much, even when it seems like it’s the end of the world. Everything works out at the end and what made you very upset today wouldn’t matter tomorrow anyway. I’m trying to practice it myself and thanks to my short memory issues, it works pretty well, I get irritated by something or someone and a minute after I forget all about it some people might think that I’m mentally unbalanced but I think it’s important to find the good in every situation and make the most of every second In your life. To be honest I quite enjoy getting this emotional change from being angry to being completely indifferent, it amuses me. That’s my artistic way of expressing my feelings. Check out this cool song...

Here is a comment from Songfacts website:

“This song is about the man getting married to the girl, and overhears that his fiance cheated on him..and he decides that rather than freaking out about it, to handle it with "poise and rationality"..and thinks that TECHNICALLY their "marriage is saved", because then he'll know not to marry her because they will probably end up in a divorce later, therefore marriage being saved..and therefore implicates how you should find the positive things about everything, cuz everything has a positive...”

Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget about Me) (album: The Breakfast Club Soundtrack 1985)

This song is by Simple Minds. I love this song very much thanks to breakfast club. Growing up I had two 80’s movies that I was quite obsessed about. The first one was “Dirty Dancing” I know it’s a bit pathetic but I’m a girl after all and we like these emotional stuff , plus Patrick Swayze was the hottest thing existed back then. The second movie was the “Breakfast Club”, I’ve watched this movie ten million times at least, and I’ve memorized every line .This song was written especially for this movie and it is featured in the movie’ soundtrack.  I haven’t watched this movie for maybe 20 years, I’m scared to watch it again today because I know it will ruin all my good memories. Family Guy had their own breakfast club version and it’s really funny, one of my favourites shows.

Here is a summary of what this movie about:

The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American teen drama film written and directed by John Hughes. The storyline follows five teenagers (each a member of a different high school clique) as they spend a Saturday in detention together and come to realize that they are all deeper than their respective stereotypes. The Temper trap - sweet disposition (album: Conditions 2008)

This song is by the Aussie band The Temper Trap. It is such a great song. It was featured in the movie 500 days of summer and in other commercials and also a few TV shows.

This song talks about how we adults are scared to do the things we use to do when we were young. When I was a younger, I was pretty brave, I wasn’t scared of anything, I was very curious about everything.  Today, I can’t even understand how I did all those things without even thinking of the consequences. I was pretty cool back then, now I can’t even swim in the ocean without thinking of sharks or just drowning or even go on a rollercoaster and just relax and enjoy it. Growing old sucks ass! I wish I could be like my hubby, He is not scared of anything and he always finds a new challenge, I guess he is going to stay young forever...

This is my favourite line: " Just stay there cause I'll be coming over and while our bloods still young it's so young it runs and we won't stop til it's over won't stop to surrender" Check out this wonderful song...

Shinedown – Second Chance (album: The Sound of Madness 2008)

This song is by Shinedown. It is such a wonderful song. The lead singer Brent Smith has such a powerful voice.

This song is about pursuing your dreams and passions in life. I personally relate to it very much, I’ve studied Finance for 3 years because I thought that would make my parents happy and proud but It was just a waste of my time because It didn’t interest me at all. I realize later on that my parents are better than that and there only wish is for me to be happy ;) Of course I don’t regret meeting so many amazing people in college. That was a great period in my life. I’ve also met my Hubby during my studies so it was the right decision after all. This song is all about finding your passions in life no matter what anyone else thinks and be whatever you choose to be. There is always a second chance... Check out this awesome song...

What’s this song about?
At Pointfest 22, lead singer Brent Smith told the audience;
"It's important for you to hear this... When I grew up, everyone was okay with being in a bubble. They were cool in their circle. That's fine. But no one should discourage someone if they have a dream, if they want something more [...] This song was difficult for me to write the lyrics to because it's about my mother and my father, and about the day I said goodbye to them, because I had to go try, and I'm still trying, every day, to become a man. So, this song is about that. It's about the moment that you wake up and you decide you want to go for every single dream you ever want." (Wikipedia – Second Chance)

Manic Street Preachers – The Everlasting (album: This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours 1998)

This song is by Manic Street Preachers. Such a wonderful song, I fell in love with it the first time I’ve heard it. They have a few nice songs. I couldn’t find the exact meaning of lyrics but I believe it’s quite political, it’s a song about the growth of population in the world and how over the years people become more self absorbed and less caring about others. It’s a call for people to be more considerate and help the unfortunate.

Speaking of thinking of others, my sister is the type of person that always puts others first. When I was a child she used to spend the money that she got from my parents on me. One time she stayed at my aunty and uncle house for a couple of days. My parents gave her enough money to buy something for herself while staying there. She was only 10 and she spent all her money on a cabbage patch doll that she bought for me. My aunty saw that she got me the doll and she offered to pay her back the money so she can say it was from her. When my sister returned from her trip she was very upset, she told my parents how my aunty was trying to bribe her but the doll was actually bought by my sister and not my aunty. Of course she got to keep my auntie’s money which was quite a nasty person. I’ll never forget how upset my sister was that day. Anyway, this song is for my lovely sis that always thinks about everyone else but herself…

Morrissey - Suedehead (album: Viva Hate 1988)

This song is by Morrissey, He was the frontman of The Smiths. This song is from his first solo album. Did I mention how much I admire him already? My sister bought us his album and we both enjoyed it very much, such a great album!  The band Suede got the inspiration for their name from this song. This is a wonderful song, both music and lyrics are amazing. Morrissey is very good with words! He is a magnificent poet. He writes all the things that we wish to say but having a hard time finding the right words.

This song is about the difficulty of breaking up with someone and the obsession of the other side, not wanting to let go. It is flattering and scary at the same time. You have to listen to this awesome song...

What’s this song about?
Here is a nice comment from songfacts website:
This is one of those songs about a situation where you have to experience for yourself in order to appreciate. It's about dating someone who ultimatly likes you a lot more than you like them. They infringe on personal space and basicaly hang around too much. In this song the subject is so insecure that she (he-who knows!) had to break into the singer's diary. In true male fashion the singer writes off the relationship with the immortal words "It was a good lay." This beg's the million dollar question, how can a man who was sworn to celebacy write such a thing. Richard Blade, a DJ at KROQ in Los Angeles at the time asked Morriissey, and his repsonse was "That was a long time ago."
