Chevelle – Jars (album: Sci-Fi Crimes 2009)

This song is by Chevelle, quite a cool song. I’ve heard it on my Hubby’s music collection and I was very impressed.
Speaking of jars, reminds me when I was about 10, I got really sick with mumps. Unfortunately I got it from both sides and I looked like the elephant man. It was really uncomfortable and because it was very contagious none of my friends were allowed to visit me. I ended up spending around a month at home. I was very sad and lonely without all my friends around me. So I captured a fly in a jar and I played with it. I remember being very happy having the little fly in the jar. Although I knew it’s quite vicious to put it in a jar so I’ve eventually released it. I was quite proud of myself that I was quick enough to catch it. I remember my mum took care of me while I was sick, she always used to take care of me when I wasn’t feeling well. It was one of the most horrific experiences I had when I was a child, not being able to go outside and play with the other kids. As a child I was always playing outside with all the kids in the neighbourhood. It was my favourite thing. I didn’t care about homework or anything else, just being outdoors and playing all kind of games. Check out this cool song about the earth…

What’s this song about?

Drummer Sam Loeffler told 99.3 The Fox that this song's subject matter reflects the quirky themes of Sci-Fi Crimes. He explained that the song is, "a kind of a play on words. It's saving the environment. It's a joke about saving the environment and it's about literally taking the earth, and putting it into jars to save it for later. It's very tongue in cheek."
