Primus – Sgt. Baker (album: Sailing Seas of Cheese 1991)

This next song is by Primus. They are best known for their heavy use of bass guitar in their songs. They also created the theme song for South Park. Apparently Trey Parker and Matt Stone are big fans of the band and they have asked them to compose the theme song for their show. The album Sailing Seas of Cheese is awesome.

The song is about Primus criticising the army methods and the sergeants that turn boys into a war machines. The sad Army reality. A bunch of stupid officers that play the role of god and torture their soldiers and program them to blindly follow their orders.Yep, another sad reality. Check out this wonderful song...

The Raconteurs – Steady as she goes (album: Broken Boy Soldiers 2006)

This song is by The Raconteurs a group that was formed by Jack White in 2005. Right after Jack White and Brenan Benson completed writing this song together they have decided to form a band. As you can see, Jack White is a very busy man forming a few bands and having a solo career at the same time, what a legend!!! I wonder if he has any time to sleep in between... anyway this is a great song, very catchy and very good.

This song obviously talks about a man’s fear of commitment. I know a lot of Men that suffer from this Phobia. I believe that if the relationship is good before, there is no reason for it to change after marriage. If you marry your best friend then nothing could go wrong. Of course people change with time but you both grow together and if you spend time together and never take the other side for granted then it will get even better after marriage. My hubby and I were close before we got married and we are very close to each other today. We share our love for music and humour and that’s the core of everything. He will always be my best friend and a stupid piece of paper won’t change it. Check out this cool song...

What’s this song about?
Here is a comment from Songfacts website:
In an interview to Uncut magazine White said that the song was written about a year before his marriage. He added that the song is asking a question,” Is doing that – getting married and settling down – starting a new life or is it giving up? “

Faith No More – Ashes to Ashes (album: Album of the Year 1998)

This next song is by Faith No More. I’ve always thought they were a good band; they had such good songs and covers as well. Their lead singer Mike Patton is an amazing vocalist. I actually discovered this song when my hubby was playing with a band and they were covering this song. I fell in love with it instantly! My hubby plays it so well on his guitar ;) I think “album of the year” is quite a sophisticated album name, makes you want to listen to it.

Not sure if FNM meant anything in this song, the lyrics don’t make sense at all but it might be about taking responsibility and blame over something that you have done wrong. “I want them to know it’s me, it’s on my head...” the all idea of this song is the music so I hope you enjoy it...

What’s this song about?
When asked about the song, Billy Gould replied:
The bulk of that song was written the first week. We arranged it here, and then we sent Patton a tape. He was in Italy, but he came up with the lyrics and the singing right away. It was one of those songs that just clicked -- one of those songs that we do most naturally. That's our sound. Wikipedia – Ashes to Ashes

Black Sabbath – War Pigs (album: Paranoid 1970)

This song is by Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne started his career in this band. In my search for 70’s heavy metal I came across this band, apparently they were the pioneers. Paranoid is their second album and most successful one. It’s a great album. This is an awesome song with great music and lyrics.

This is a pure anti war song. I think it is quite relevant to what’s been happening in Afghanistan and Iraq for the past 9 years. Nothing really came out of it, just more terror attacks and unnecessary death of more soldiers. It makes me really sad. What are we fighting for, when is it going to end? Who cares whose religion is better or who has more power. Why do we people have to suffer because of these control freaks. I don’t like war, don’t care about religion, and don’t really care if someone is making more money than me. Just want to live peaceful life and have lots of fun and I’m sure most of you want the same thing. Check out my anti war song...

Lyrics: War Pigs Lyrics

What’s this song about?
The original title of the song was "Walpurgis", which the band often played live and featured different lyrics. Bass guitarist, Geezer Butler, claims that the band's record company thought this version of the song sounded "too Satanic". The group decided to change the lyrics to more of an antiwar theme. Butler has said that the song was "totally against the Vietnam War, about how these rich politicians and rich people start all the wars for their benefit and get all the poor people to die for them.", while Ozzy Osbourne has stated that the group, "knew nothing about Vietnam. It's just an anti-war song."  (Wikipedia – War Pigs)

Body Count – Body Count (album: Body Count 1992)

This next song is by Body Count. The band was founded by the Rapper Ice T.They became very famous right after they have released their first album “Body Count” back in 1992. It’s a great album. All songs are about drug abuse and police corruption. It made its headlines in America. I think they just wanted to get famous and the easy way to do it is to shock people.

The music in this song is amazing! I love the guitar sound very much. Of course this song is about the cops in America and racism towards the black people in America. It’s also about the hard life in the black neighbourhoods. I know nothing about it, only the stuff that you see on TV and Movies. I’m guessing it’s not an easy life out there but there must be something they can change to better their life. Get rid of all the gangs and weapons and focus on better education and legal businesses. Check out this cool song...oh I almost forgot - sorry for all the swear words in this song!

Lyrics: Body Count Lyrics

The Controversy behind the release of this album:
The album encountered controversy before its original release. It was originally set to be distributed under the title Cop Killer, named for the song of the same name, which criticizes violent police officers, and was interpreted as an attack against the entire police force. At a Time-Warner shareholders' meeting, actor Charlton Heston stood and read lyrics from the song "KKK Bitch" to an astonished audience and demanded that the company take action. Jet – Look what you’ve done (album: Get Born 2004)

This next song is by the Aussie band Jet. They have an awesome sound, very much 60’ and 70’s style.  This song is from their first album Get Born which made them very successful. It’s a great album and an awesome song. My hubby found this song for us and I use to play it all the time.

“Give me back my point of view cause I just can’t think for you...”my favourite line from this song. I’m guessing this song is about a relationship that’s gone wrong cause one of sides cheated on the other. “Oh well , it seems like such fun until you lose what you had won" check out this awesome song...

Lyrics: Look what you’ve done Lyrics

Song Inspiration:
This song was greatly inspired by The Beatles song "Sexy Sadie". Its title and the most commonly repeated line in the song "Look what you've done", plus the line "You made a fool of everyone", were taken directly from "Sexy Sadie". Besides from that, the overall sound of the song bears a great resemblance to "Sexy Sadie". ( Wikipedia - Look what you’ve done)

Hoobastank – The Reason (album: The Reason 2004)

This song is by Hoobastank. I got very addicted to this song, it’s just wonderful. I heard it for the first time on the radio when they just released it. Looked for the Video on the web and played it over and over again.

Warning - it’s quite a mushy song. You already know I’m a girl and we can’t help it sometimes. It’s exactly like shopping – It’s another urge that we need to fulfil! This song is about a guy that hurts his girl’s feelings and now he regrets it and he realizes that she is the reason for everything in his life. Question – why do we girls realize things straight away and you boys take your time, torture us and then feeling sorry for it. I guess I’ll never know the answer to that. In the meantime just try to enjoy my girly song...

Paramore – Ignorance (album: Brand New Eyes 2009)

This next song is by Paramore. Their singer Hayley Williams is one of the best female singers in the music industry. She is quite amazing. This is a really good song. My Hubby likes it very much. They wrote a beautiful song for Twilight movie, I watched the first movie and I hated it. It was such a waste of my time. I don’t understand the fuss about this movie. It’s crap!

This song talks about friendship and how people change with time. People that you got along with when you were growing up are completely different people today and it’s quite amazing how things that you had in common just disappear with time. At least you are left with nice memories and no one can take it away from you. Check out this cool song.

Lyrics: Ignorance Lyrics

What’s this song about?
In an interview with Kerrang!, Williams, who co-wrote the song, discussed the singles meaning, and her and Farro's inspiration for writing the song, saying,
"In my eyes, this song is a huge turning point for the band. The truth of it is, growing up is not easy. We’re five different people who have to work towards the same goal on a daily basis. There were a lot of times when I felt really alone or angry or insecure. I don’t always feel good at confronting people, especially people that I love, like these guys. Sometimes it takes songs to get the point across. The song is from one person’s perspective. It’s unfair that I’m the one who gets to talk about it but it helped me a lot. The line ‘ignorance is your new best friend’ is about how I felt I was losing people, and I think the band did too. But it’s okay, we’re growing up. I love that song.”(Wikipedia – Ignorance)

The Smiths – Unhappy Birthday (album: Strangeways, Here We Come 1987)

Today it’s my B-Day! Yay!  Happy Birthday to Me ;) I had to find a B-Day song for myself. The best B-Day song that I could think of is by The Smiths. It is quite a vicious birthday song but it cracks me up! Check out this awesome song and the link to my previous post about The Smiths.

“I’ve come to wish you an unhappy birthday, I’ve come to wish you an unhappy Birthday cause your evil and you lie and if you should die, I may feel slightly sad but I won’t cry...”  I always wanted to dedicate it to someone but I never found the right person, feel free to use it on someone.

K’s Choice – Everything for Free (album: Cocoon Crash 1998)

This next song is by the Belgian Rock band K’s Choice. The lead singer has a fantastic voice. I was working in a record shop when they have just released this song. I listened to it all the time, play it in the shop all the time. People started to get sick of it at some point so I had to stop. It was probably the best job I’ve ever had. Listening to records all day long and get paid for it. How cool is that?

Quite a sad song about a guy in a mental institution. I thought it would be a great change for my blog, a song that is not about drug abuse. Although I heard about a few people that travelled to India and took some mushrooms and gone completely mental and end up in an institution so here we go again... I actually worked with a guy that his son took a mushroom and now he is a complete schizo.  Met the guy, he is screwed for life and this is all thanks to the wonders of curiosity...if you don’t know something and you heard it might do you damage – Do Not Touch It!!! Pretty simple isn’t it?
Check it out this song that I like...

Lyrics: Everything for Free Lyrics

What’s this song about?
I couldn’t find the meaning on the web but some guy wrote a comment on the video in YouTube and I strongly agree with his interpretation of the lyrics.
“The song is about a man who's being held in a psychiatric hospital.
He suffers from a mental illness and he tells his story In the end (the last paragraph) he repeats what he have said in the beginning, which symbolize his illness” (Ofir YouTube) “
