This song is by scorpions. They are the masters of heavy metal ballads. Every time I felt like listening to love songs I would put their ballads on the background. I love this song very much. My hubby plays is so nicely on the guitar. I just love it when he plays it for me.

This song is probably them missing their love ones while touring around the world. I remember when my hubby was travelling to Japan for 2 weeks, I missed him so much, and he decided to surprise me by returning a week earlier. I went with friends to get a Subway for lunch and as I ordered my sandwich I felt like someone is pushing me from behind , I’ve turned around to confront him and I see my hubby standing there. It was such an awesome surprise! Of course he paid for my sandwich... and my drink ;) check out this cool love song...

The story behind the album cover:

The cover depicted a man and woman in formalwear seated in the back of a car, with one of the woman's breasts exposed and connected to the man's hand by stretched bubblegum.  It caused some controversy upon the album's release and was subsequently banned.
In a 2010 interview singer Klaus Meine commented on the album cover stating, "we just did not know it would be a problem in America, it was just sex and rock n roll. It is odd that in America that some of these covers were a problem because in the 80’s when we would tour here we always had boobs flashed to us at the front of the stage. Lenny Kravitz – Sister (album: are you gonna go my way 1993)

This song is by Lenny Kravitz. I loved him so much when I was a teenager. I think he is brilliant, so talented. My friend and I couldn’t stop listening to his songs. It was around the same time I’ve discovered Led Zeppelin. I must say most of his songs were quite a hit. He’s drummer is so cool. My hubby loves her.

I couldn’t find the meaning of this song anywhere but I’m guessing it’s about women being abused by shitty men for example countries like Afghanistan encourage violence and force women to be with men that treat them badly and constantly abuse them and they have no control over their lives, all their rights and freedom were taken from them. Very sad reality, I wish there was something we can do to change it. I personally don’t see the point of living without freedom of choice.

This is one of my favourite songs, amazing lyrics and guitar solo!!!

Level 42 – It’s over (Running in the Family 1987)

This next song is by Level 42.my brother was a fan and bought this album. When he used to play it I’ve enjoyed listening to it very much. That was back in the 80’s when I was a child. At some point all my family records were passed to my handling and this was one of my favourite records.

This is a very powerful song. It’s a goodbye letter and explanation from a man who’s leaving his girlfriend. “And as I close the door, I know I’m breaking your heart, I should have loved you more instead I’ve torn your world apart”....  Wonderful Lyrics. I use to listen to it whenever I felt sad or just frustrated over a relationship that I had when I was a teenager.  Brings back stupid memories...

Skid Row – Wasted Time (album: slave to the grind 1991)

This song is by Skid Row. During my Guns N’ Roses period, I used to listen to Skid Row as well. They were pretty cool. They have some awesome songs. Their Lead singer Sebastian Bach shouts very nicely and he is a pretty cool man or a woman, still not sure what he is...In 1996 the band members got rid of Sebastian and of course It hasn’t been the same without him!!!

I always thought this was a love song for someone who died from some kind of accident but apparently it is a song about Steven Adler’s drug abuse, Steven was Guns N’ Roses first Drummer that was replaced by the band back in 1990 because at some point he couldn’t function properly .For me it will always be a great love song...

Anyway this is one of my favourite songs.

This song is by Adam Ant. This is from Adam Ant’s fifth solo album. I heard this song for the first time in an alternative music club and I bought the CD the following day. It is a really great album and this is my favourite song.

This song is about a brave guy that admits that he is wrong and his woman is just “wonderful”, if only all men would be as honest as this Adam Ant the world would be a much better place ;) only joking, women make mistakes as well sometimes, rarely but I’ve heard it’s possible;) of course I’m never wrong because I’m wonderful! hahahaha check out this romantic apologetic song...

This song by the Aussie band Something with Numbers. I don’t really know them that much, I’ve listened to a few of their songs and they are not bad, just a bit weird. This is a really awesome song which I love very much. It’s quite catchy and it has cool lyrics. The story behind their band’s name is quite interesting, one of their friends suggested that they will name the band something with numbers, he actually meant something similar to blink 182 but they thought it would be cool just to keep it as it is...check out this awesome song...

The Smiths – There is a light that never goes out (album: The Queen is dead 1986)

This song is by The Smiths. I love this band so much!!!They are the pioneers of the alternative rock music. A lot of British alternative bands such as Blur, Oasis and Suede were influenced by them. They have a lot of great songs with wonderful deep lyrics and music. My hubby always makes fun of Morrissey’s voice. I think he’s awesome!!!

This is one of my favourite Smiths songs. It’s about that really happy moment in your life that you wish it would never end, a moment when you have the most genuine smile on your face...makes me think about my first date with my hubby, I’ll give everything to relive that night. The Doors – Peace Frog (album: Morrison Hotel 1970)

This next song is by The Doors. I was first introduced to the band by my Sister. Back when I was a teenager I wished I was in the 60’s – 70’s period so I could experience this amazing era of music, love, fashion and parties. I’ve prepared a memorial corner on one of my room shelves just for Jim Morrison. A few years later, my parents surprised my sister and I with a trip to Paris, of course we all went to Jim’s grave just to say hello. I was stoked!!!

What’s this song about?

The line "Indians scattered on dawn's highway bleeding/Ghosts crowd the young child's fragile eggshell mind" originates from his poem, "Newborn Awakening" (and it also appears at the end of "Ghost Song"). The line is born out of "Dawn's Highway", a poem in which Jim describes an event that occurred when he was young. As Morrison described it in An American Prayer:

Guns n’ Roses – Sweet Child of Mine (album: Appetite for Destruction 1988)

This next song is by Guns n’ Roses, my first heavy metal band. They were a big hit among my friends back when I was a teenager. I bought all their cassettes/CD, hanged all their flags and posters. My room was covered with Guns. 20 years after I still think they were awesome and I don’t regret ruining my walls for them.

I think this is by far their best song. I never get sick of listening to it ;) “She’s got smile that it seems to me, Reminds me of childhood memories where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky...” wonderful lyrics!

Temple of the Dog – Hunger Strike (album: temple of the dog 1991)

Now back to the grunge again... This next song is by Temple of The Dog a band that was formed in 1990 as a tribute for the late Andrew Wood the lead singer of “Mother Love Bone” .Many of Seattle best musicians such as Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell took part of this project. This is my favourite song from this album, Chris & Eddie the two rock legends singing together, is there anything better than that?!?

This is a protest song written by Chris Cornell against rich people exploitation of the poor and helpless. Good on you Chris!!!

"Hunger Strike" was written by vocalist Chris Cornell. It features a duet between Cornell and vocalist Eddie Vedder. Cornell was having trouble with the vocals at practice, when Vedder stepped in.
